Utorrent Download Speed Slow Windows 10

Best uTorrent Settings For A Faster Download Speed. Here I will now share some common settings that you can change in your torrent client to gain faster speeds and better optimize your downloads. Check these settings and apply one or a combination of these, to get better download and upload speeds on your system. Setting 1: Bandwidth Settings. My Ethernet connection averages about 320 Mbps download speed. I'm curious as to why when I'm downloading a game of some sort, the speed drastically reduces to about 10 Mbps or so. I don't have any speed limits set in regards to downloading games. My final tips for speeding up uTorrent is to prioritize the download you want first. This gives that file first choice of bandwidth and resources so will download faster if the seeds and peers are capable of it. Right click a torrent within the main uTorrent window. Select Bandwidth Allocation and then High.

A number of things can be causing this issue. Let's eliminate these one-by one:

1. NO SEEDERS: The most common issue is the torrent does not have enough people sharing the file or 'seeders'. You can check to see if there are enough seeders for the file by checking the file using this website - https://checker.openwebtorrent.com/

2. WIFI ONLY MODE: Your app is in ‘wifi-only mode’ and you are not on a wifi network. To check this, tap on the menu button (three dots) in upper corner of the screen in portrait (vertical) mode, then tap on ‘Settings’. Turn off the switch for ‘Use Wi-Fi networks only’, then toggle it once to make sure it is off. This will turn it red.

3. POOR CONNECTION: Your network connection is poor (common). To check this, try streaming content on your browser or an app (e.g YouTube). If you can stream content without too much buffering, then you probably have a strong connection. Alternatively, check your wifi speed with the free Speed Test app from Google Play. Here's a popular one - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.zwanoo.android.speedtest

4. BLOCKED WIFI: Your wifi network connection is blocked by the ISP. This means your network is blocking torrent files, or is blocking your outgoing port. To check this, try downloading a Featured Content torrent on another network. If you can download a torrent on another network (particularly a fast wifi network), then it’s likely that your wifi network is causing the issue. To fix this, tap on Menu, then Settings, then Incoming TCP Port in our app. Look at the TCP Port number, and increment it up by one. For example, if your port number is 6881, make it 6882. If this doesn’t work, your wifi network may be throttling BitTorrent traffic, in which case we can't help with a workaround.

5. PHONE ISSUE: The app isn't working well with your device. To check this, delete any unfinished torrents, then close the app. Next, delete BitTorrent app data by going to your phone’s Settings, then App, then BitTorrent, then Storage, then Clear Data. Next, reboot your phone, then uninstall and reinstall the app, then reboot your phone again. Then try downloading a test torrent here - https://webtorrent.io/free-torrents

6. NOT SHARING FILES: You are not seeding, and the swarm is ignoring you. If you are not seeding, you may be anonymously identified by the swarm as a leecher. Leeching means you download, but you don’t share. Some users reporting slowdowns after using the app for a long time are having this issue due to not seeding. To check this, go to your phone’s Menu, then Settings, then Upload limit, then change this to a reasonably number (not zero). Try seeding a little, and see if your torrents start speeding up. But please don’t do this with your data plan. Use wifi-only mode, which is also under Settings.

Down

Basic uTorrent setting is a must and everyone should configure these settings before start downloading any files, movies, videos, or all other stuff. Check out some below settings that you must modify.

1: Update to the latest version of uTorrent

This is one of the most recommended things that everyone must stay aware of. Update with the latest version of uTorrent whenever available. Now the next important thing is to change some settings manually. For this see steps.

2: Change Preferences option

When you open uTorrent you will see the Preferencestab at the top. Click on this. Here you will see different options on the left pane, make some settings manually.

  • General

Click on the General tab on the left side, uncheck Check association on startup. Keep all other things same as default.

  • Connection

Here you have to modify connection settings. By default, some other value is given for Port used for incoming connections, but change this value to 45682. This is best port value to increase downloading speed.

  • Bandwidth

On the bandwidth area by default, the values for Maximum download rate is set to unlimited (showing 0 value), if you see any other value change it to 0 value. Below there is a Global maximum number of connections change this value to 500. Leave other option as it is.

  • BitTorrent

Under this option, check out for Protocol Encryption. Select Outgoing option as Forced. Also, tick Allow incoming legacy connections if it is unchecked.

  • Queuing

Here change the value of the Maximum number of active torrents as 8. Change the value of the Maximum number of Active download to 1, so that having single download at one time makes downloading speed much faster. This is usually not recommended to have more than 1 download at one time when you are facing problem in downloading speed.

  • Advanced Option

In advanced option, go to Disk Cache option. Tick Override automatic cache size and specify the size manually. Make sure the value is set high (let us say 1800 MB), this enables you to make the process faster by keeping the space much more to override cache size.

Further, you have to uncheck some boxes and check some boxes, see the below screenshot to make sure you have done correct settings. Uncheck Write out untouched blocks every 2 minutes, Write out finished pieces immediately, and Remove old block from Cache. and tick on the last one Increase automatic cache size when cache trashing.
