In this step, we will reveal files and folders that windows usually hides from its users. We do this because we are going to need to work with renaming, and deleting files. Nothing that will cause your computer any harm though.

  1. Open up any folder
  2. Click View
  3. On the right-hand side, Click Options
  4. Click the View tab
  5. Where it says Hidden files and folders
  6. Under it, click ‘Show hidden files, folders, and drives
  7. We are done for showing hidden files

We will stop any services that Adobe has running. We do this because, in some instances, we cannot rename or delete specific files if Adobe is already using them.

  1. Press, Alt – Control – Delete
  2. Go to Task Manager
  3. End Task on all things Adobe, (A Red Box with what seems like a cloud in white )
  4. At the bottom click ‘ More Options ‘
  5. End it all, in, Apps, and Background Processes
  6. Some services are called, Core Sync, Adobe desktop services, Adobe IPC broker, AAM updater. Basically, you want to get rid of all things Adobe.

Here is where most of the work comes into play. We will rename files in order to make Photoshop CC work again. We will also be allowing users all access to read and write.

  1. We are going to right click all named folders below, in order to give access to your user.
  2. You will only see this folder if you followed the steps above, by showing hidden files.
  3. Right Click this folder: C://program data – go into properties, click on the Security tab up top. Click on System, Click on Edit, Click on the Full Control, Allow box, all boxes should now be ticked, Click Apply. This is what we will be doing from now on. Do the same for Administrators, and System.
  4. Right Click this folder – C://program files 86x/common files , Do the same as above.
  5. Do the same for the following folders:

  8. C: //program files/
  9. Now we are going to rename some files, we will not be deleting anything.
  10. rename SLstore to Slstore.old at following location c://program data/Adobe/
  11. Rename SLcache to Slcache.old at following location C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesAdobe
  12. Navigate to c://users/username/appdata/local/adobe/oobe and rename Opm.db to opm.old
  13. Now, go to c://windows/system32/drivers/etc/ and open the hosts file using notepad. If you see an Adobe entry there, replace the hosts file with one that does not have an Adobe entry in it. If you do not see an Adobe entry, you are good to go and you can just leave it as is.
  14. All set, go ahead and Run Adobe CC and sign in.
